![]() ![]() The six-episode Netflix series Behind Her Eyes initially has the air of one of those sexy adult thrillers from the 1990s. If you would like to be spoiled so you don’t have to sit through all six episodes to figure out what the twist is, read on! If you don’t want to be spoiled, do not read until you have finished watching. This piece completely spoils the ending of the Netflix series Behind Her Eyes. Spoiler alert: You may sense a strange deja vu if you've seen the Kate Hudson/Peter Sarsgaard starrer from 2005 – "The Skeleton Key".Īll I'd say is, don't be quick to judge this one by the cover or the lack of preface – it is a great thriller that draws you in very, very slowly – as long as you have the patience to read (and in this case "watch") a good story with a dark, juicy center to relish.Be careful, Eve Hewson, there’s a twist coming. Robert Aramayo sneaks in at the right times in the right doses, adding that sprinkle of mystery. The leading ladies Simona Brown and Eve Hewson are brilliant both in their own zones and roles. You may think you know what it's about, but most chances are you're wrong – that's the beauty of the suspense. While it takes some time to come to grips with what the characters are playing at, the story-line is well written and paced out. Somehow "Behind Her Eyes" mystifies you enough to wait some more, because you do sense something dark lurking at the corner of your eyes, even if you can't see it yet.īased on Sarah Pinborough's 2017 novel by the same name, this British series by Steve Lightfoot is well played out, in a typical British breezy, casual and blunt tone – well, breezy for the most part. Though it's interesting how creators do gamble with the slow burn strategy, specially with the episode-wise format that can let the audience off the hook if you don't grasp their attention for too long. The name does get you curious – the promotional stills draw you in a bit more, I'm sure. Save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere for a more fulfilling television experience. If you're seeking a gripping psychological drama with well-rounded characters and a satisfying resolution, "Behind Her Eyes" may not be the show for you. In the end, it was a forgettable experience that failed to capitalize on its potential. The show lacked a clear vision and failed to deliver on its promises, leaving viewers more bewildered than entertained. Instead of adding depth and intrigue, it undermined the earlier established themes and left me feeling disconnected from the characters' struggles.Īlthough "Behind Her Eyes" boasted stunning visuals and a talented cast, these strengths couldn't save it from its narrative flaws. It seemed like a desperate attempt to inject excitement into an otherwise lackluster plot. While a certain level of intrigue can be engaging, this show took it to the extreme, leaving viewers scratching their heads and questioning the direction of the story.įurthermore, the supernatural twist introduced in the latter half of the series felt jarring and out of place. The constant back-and-forth between timelines and dream sequences only added confusion rather than enhancing the plot. "Behind Her Eyes" struggled to maintain a cohesive narrative, veering between slow-burn tension and rushed revelations. The pacing of the series was also a major drawback. Instead of empathizing with their struggles, I found myself growing increasingly frustrated with their choices. Their relationships felt forced, lacking the depth necessary to truly invest in their stories. The main characters, Louise, David, and Adele, had potential to be captivating, but their actions and motivations often seemed contrived and inconsistent. One of the biggest letdowns was the lackluster character development. The show attempted to blend elements of mystery, romance, and supernatural intrigue, but the execution fell short on multiple fronts. "Behind Her Eyes" had all the ingredients for a thrilling psychological drama but ended up being a convoluted mess that left me feeling unsatisfied.
